Penny Black Saturday Challenge Week 208 - Hot Metal

This is my entry for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge this week where the challenge is "Hot Metal" and the card is also for a couple of close friends who celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary this week and for whom I was a bridesmaid.  

It was from Jenny's design team card that I got the inspiration to meet the challenge as, like Jenny, I had also bought the QVC kit which included these metal flowers but still hadn't got around to using them.  Unfortunately they had been rumbling around in a drawer for so long that some of them were badly scratched.  Whilst demonstrating the kit Dawn said these could be embossed so to match the black glittered flowers on the background paper I swiped the flowers with VersaMark ink and used Stampendous Disco Black embossing powder to emboss them.  The other metal pieces on the card were round silver brads which were also embossed and threaded through sequins to attach the flowers to the card.

The main image is the Penny Black stamp Squeeze 'til I Squeak and is coloured with Promarkers.  This stamp is a favourite of mine as I like using daisies in card making.  Usually I would have coloured the mice in shades of brown but to match the backing papers I've made these grey mice.  The image is framed using black card and So Saffron card from Stampin' up which were cut with nestabilities and grand nestabilites  plain and scalloped circles.  So Saffron grosgrain ribbon was used to make the bow and wrap underneath the image.

A stamp from Popcorn the Bear Special Couple stamp set was used to make the Happy Anniversary sentiment.  The stamp is a long one so I used the Stampin' up stampamajig and masking to stamp it to fit in the nestabilites oval.  Other embellishments  used were layered punched out daisies using a Woodware small daisy punch, heart peel offs, and Hobby House self adhesive pearls.

The background papers in this card were a gift from my Mum the last time she came to visit and had her first trip to Hobbycraft. They are double sided scrapbooking papers from Best Creation Inc and are from their Mr & Mrs range.  Lots of lovely glittering and glazing.

For extra framing I've stitched around the background papers and sponged the scalloped edges of the card using a mustard Promarker pen.
