This is my entry for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge this week which is Make a Scene. For this one I have used the Penny Black stamp Nice Day. After rummaging amongst my stamps I realised that I didn't really have Penny Black stamps which would go together to make a scene. I usually use stamped images to make toppers and don't dabble very much with masking or stamping and paper piecing as I'm never happy with my cutting out. I didn't want to give up on the challenge though.
Instead of stamping out or paper piecing a background I printed out a background from the Cute Companions CD 1 and then stamped and coloured the image with Promarkers in toning colours. After cutting them out, the mice were attached to the background using 3D foam pads.
The embellishments were a mixture of Quickutz dies (scissors, buttons and cotton reel) and bits and bobs from my sewing box and crafting stash. The little measure tape strips are from a page on this month's free download for members of the Crafter's Companion web site.
