Whispy - Saturated Canary

This is a card I've made using the digi stamp Whispy from Saturated Canary.  I'm definitely hooked on Krista Smith's designs as they are so lovely to colour and these shades are my favourites.  This card has the work of three digital designers on it as the Happy Birthday and Spotty backing papers are from the Cuddly Buddly download A Patchwork of Papers Pink and the Pansy decoupage is part of a download from Fred She Said's Coloured Pansies Set.  The pansy set includes different permutations of the pansy image with  teacup topper images and co-ordinating backing papers.  It's also comes in a blue variation and as I love pansies I couldn't resist buying both sets.

 

Whispy is coloured using Promarkers and then glitter was sprayed on her wings, over skirt and leggings following a tip which Sara from Crafter's Companion demonstrated on Create and Craft.  I took a second image of Whispy and made a mask by cutting away the sections I wanted to be glittered and then placed this over the coloured image before spraying through the mask with the gold glitter spray from Crafter's Companion.

For the matting and layering under the image I followed another tip I'd learned from a demonstrator on Create and Craft.  I used  one of the Spellbinder dies as a template and cut out an extra layer.  I'd avoided using this technique before as I didn't like my raw cut edge placed next to the clean cut of the Spellbinder dies but whilst looking at postings on Nic's blog I saw how she distressed edges of her mats and realised this was a way round it and that's what I've done here.

The sentiment is from the Stampin' up set Sincere Salutations and is stamped with purple Encore metallic ink.  The little pansy embellishment at the side was a happy accident.  I'd intended to print out an A4 sheet of the pansy decoupage border but didn't notice the printer paper setting was set for 4" x 6" photographs and ended up with a mini sheet.  The little flowers ended up being ideal for this project.

Here a few cards I made using the purple pansy set before I started blogging.  The cards were scanned so the colours aren't as bright as they should be but hopefully it will still let you appreciate how lovely this download set is.

   

I think I need to go and make a blue Whispy now.
