CAS Wedding Card

Although I like the clean and simple and white on white styles I rarely use them and find it very difficult knowing when to stop layering or adding embellishments to projects.  That's the enjoyment and satisfaction I get when crafting and creating projects and what makes a "Liz card" as my crafting buddies call them.  This card is my version of both clean and simple and white on white and if I'm honest, although the photos don't do it justice, I was actually happy with how pretty and uncluttered it was.

At one of our monthly craft meetings we had stencils and masks as our theme and when the need came to make a wedding card for my cousin's daughter I remembered I'd seen a wedding cake brass stencil amongst the crafty stash and used it to dry emboss on to white centura pearl card.

The corners of the topper were punched using a Woodware corner notch punch and silver thread wrapped around the corners.  This adds an extra frame and breaks up the whiteness of the topper.  After layering the topper on to linen effect silver card it was decorated with self adhesive pearls, roses, buds and a ribbon.

The topper was backed on to a layer of linen effect silver card and a layer of centura pearl card embossed using a Do-crafts Me to You embossing folder.  The flowers on this folder match the embossed flowers on the top of the cake although the rose embellishments hide them on this card.

The sentiment was stamped using a stamp from Stampin' up's Petite Pairs stamp set using VersaMark ink and detail silver embossing powder.  It was then punched out using their oval punch and a scalloped oval punched from the silver card was added behind.  More pearls, ribbon and a rose were added as embellishments.  A verse printed from the computer was added to the inside.

Here's a photo of the lovely bride and groom this card was sent to holding the traditional Orkney bride's cog.  If you'd like to know more about the cog then follow this link.
