Mum's Birthday

As well as it being a grand-nephew's birthday on the first of May it was also my Mum's birthday and these are the cards I made for us to give her.

Back to the box of purple roses again for this one, although as my Mum commented, from a distance they look like a bunch of grapes.

The materials used to make this card can be found in this post with the addition of the word Mum to personalise the card.  The letters were cut using Quickutz alphabet dies and layered in shades of green and purple card and purple glitter card for the top layer.  The touch of glitter was just the little bit of bling the card needed.

On the inside an extra insert of purple pearlescent paper was added.

Having made a few of the boxes of purple roses cards recently there were bits left over which were used to make a card for Elaine and Ian to give their Granny.  I also went back to the four square toppers layout for this one.

The two patterned papers used are both from the Nitwit Collection Time for Tea.  Spellbinder's nestabilities dies were used to cut the plain and scalloped squares and purple thread was wrapped around the corners.  A stamp from Stampin' up's Petite Pairs was used to make the sentiment and their oval and scalloped oval punches were used to frame it.

Purple peel off butterflies were attached to acetate, cut out and after folding back the wings the bodies were attached to the toppers using super glue.  Other embellishments used were lilac grosgrain ribbon to wrap around the card and to make a bow and a few purple self adhesive pearls were added to the corners.

A double layered insert was also added to this card with their edges being sponged with Encore purple metallic ink.  The same ink was used to sponge the scalloped edges of the base card and the edges of the toppers.  A Martha Stewart butterfly corner punch was used on one of the inserts to carry the butterfly theme to the inside of the card too.

Thank you for reading today
