This card was made for a grand-niece who is two today. Little Olivia has been through the wars recently as she needed to have surgery a fortnight ago to have her achilles tendon repaired. She had an accident whilst on holiday in May and snapped her achilles tendon. She was back in hospital to have a new cast fitted this week, just a couple of days before her birhday, so hopefully it all went well.
To make this card I used a Happy Birthday backing paper which is a download from Cuddly Buddly (A Patchwork of Papers - Pink) printed onto pink card and also the Teddy Bear alphabet characters are from a Cuddly Buddly download (Teddy Bears Alphabet - Pink). I used the Alphabet download in the My Craft Studio Professional programme to spell out Olivia's name and age and then printed it out again so that the name could be decoupaged and small circles for embellishments could be punched out of the remaining images. I'd intended to make a landscape A5 card for her, as I'd made the same style of card for two other grand-nieces who were two earlier this year, but after printing out the two sheets and preparing the decoupage I discovered that the card base sheet had printed at an angle instead of straight and I hadn't saved the project in Olivia's name. To have started over again would have meant preparing the decoupage again too as there was no guarantee that I'd have got the letters sized the same the second time around.
Anyway, as with lots of mishaps, this turned out to be a happy accident. I squared off the printed sheet as best I could and used it as the front for an easel style card, copied a lot of the elements from the original card and I'm quite chuffed with the result. Hopefully Olivia has had a happy day in spite of having to cope with her cast.
