This is my entry for the Penny Black Saturday Challenge this week which is Love and Kisses. The Penny Black image used for this one is Squeeze 'til I Squeak and is coloured with Promarkers. I'm normally in at the last minutes with my entry but decided that I'd use the challenge as inspiration for a Valentine's card so it had to be completed for today. The inspiration for the layout came from last week's challenge sketch on the Sweet Sketch Wednesday Challenge blog.
The image was cut out using a circle nestabilities die and then set in a frame cut from a Marianne Designs die. The red pearlescent card is from the Papeterie and is a lovely rich red. It toned really well with the red gingham and hearts backing papers which were from the Cuddly Buddly download - A Patchwork of Papers Red.
The larger hearts embellishments around the image and backing the sentiment were cut from the same papers and card using plain and scalloped nestabilites dies and the smaller hearts and daisies were punched using Woodware punches. The tips of the daisies and around the image were sponged with Stampin' up Riding Hood Red ink. A couple of brads, a bow and some peel off hearts finished this one off.
I wasn't the only one making a Valentine's card in this house as Elaine was busy creating too with a little help, or perhaps some confusion, from moi. Her card was more special as she wrote her own poem for the inside so it was very personal. Here's her efforts.
She knows the way to Andy's heart because, as well as the special card and buying him some heart themed sweet treats, she did some baking too. Here are the two she left for her Mum and Dad to share. Ah...........
It's been a fun couple of days shopping and creating here. Hope you had a good Valentine's day too.
I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges
