Golden Wedding Cake

It was an Auntie and Uncle's Golden Wedding Anniversary last week and I took the opportunity to make a wedding cake card for them.  I was their flower girl fifty years ago but unfortunately can't remember anything of the day.

The layout for their card is the same as the wedding card I made recently but using a colour theme of gold and lemon.  The link above details the materials and dies used to make the card.  As well as the lemon giving the card a fresh spring feel it also ties in with Esther's middle name which is Primrose.  This came from Nurse Primrose who attended her birth.

The patterned backing papers were from the Pink Petticoat download Little Swirls and were printed off in the Goldrod colourway in both positive and negative.  This made a nice contrast between the panels.  The backing paper behind the cake topper was printed from the Joanna Sheen CD Secret Garden and is one of the canvas backing papers.

A Cuttlebug swirls embossing folder was used to emboss the cake layers this time as it was a good match to the patterned papers.

Peel off letters and numbers were attached to the Memory Box Precious Hearts die cuts and Spellbinders heart nestabilities die cuts at the top of the cake to personalise the card for Esther and Barry.

These pictures show how well the patterned papers contrasted.  The messages inside the card were created on the computer and framed using Spellbinders nestabilities plain and scalloped hearts and grand nestabilities circle dies.

Esther and Barry had a day at home with friends and family visiting throughout the day with cards and gifts.  Not many people knew it was their special celebration so I would imagine there will be a lot more cards arrive once the word is out.
